Aren Marcus Jackson (A.J.) , Tia Torres' husband, is not in jail for life. Jackson was originally arrested in 1993 during an attempted car theft when he shot at the police and then tried to escape in a police car. He was released on parole in 2006. He was arrested again in 2007 for a parole violation after a raid on the Villalobos ranch turned up a stolen motorcycle. A.J. was threatened with life imprisonment due to California's three strikes law. He agreed to a plea deal to avoid life in prison and started serving time at High Desert State Prison. The last we checked A.J. was no longer listed there as an inmate. To date there have been no announcements via the Web by his wife Tia Torres concerning his whereabouts. Tia Torres started the Villalobos Rescue Center in Agua Dulce, California. It was the state's largest pit bull shelter. She began employing parolees at the suggestion of her husband. She agreed to appear on Animal Planet's show, Pitbulls and Parolees to help defray the costs of running the animal shelter. The shelter has expenses upwards of $25,000 per month. In 2011, Torres moved the animal shelter to two different locations, New Mexico and Louisiana. The New Mexico location is called The Sanctuary and houses dogs that are too old or not eligible for adoption. The New Orleans, LA location is a rescue and adoption shelter located in the 9th Ward. Good news Pit Bulls and Parolees fans! A sixth season of the series is scheduled to air later this year. In the news, a pit bull who injured a little boy was recently ordered to spend the rest of his life at a no-kill shelter run in a jail. He was also neutered and had his canine teeth removed.
